The scenic Moosehead Trail from Newport to Greenville winds through beautiful countryside and unique towns in Piscatquis County. Some of the unique towns along the Moosehead Trail are Newport, Corinna, Dexter, Dover-Foxcroft, Guilford, Sangerville, Abbot, Abbot Village, Monson, Shirley, Shirley Mills, Greenville, Greenville Junction, and Rockwood.. One of the most spectacular views along the Moosehead Trail is the view of Moosehead Lake as you start down the hill into Greenville. Moosehead Lake is know as the Gateway to the North Maine Woods and is also the largest lake in one state east of the Mississippi. Moosehead Lake is 20 miles wide and 40 miles long. Moosehead Lake is also the host of the International Seaplane Fly-In and numerous Craft Fairs.
