Hiking The Moosehead Trail 100 Mile Wilderness Maine

This area is known for the Appalachian Trail and the 100 mile wilderness stretch from Monson to Mount Katahdin. Mt Katahdin is the highest point in Maine and second to Mt Washington in New Hampshire.

Monson and Elliottsville is a  stop over for hikers going North Or South, in Monson the route 16 trailhead is used. In Elliottsville hikers get off the trail at Little Wilson Falls, Big Wilson Stream or in Bodfish Valley by Slugundy Falls which is on Long Pond Stream and the start of the climb up or down Barren Mountain.

 Beside the AMC ( Appalachian Mountain Club & Appalachian Trail ) there are many other trails and mountains to climb.

Wildlife Lodge is located on the  road leading to Onawa Lake in Elliottsville, Maine.

Elliottsville Twp  is just off the Moosehead Trail between Guilford and Moosehead Lake in Greenville.

The Lodge is located  along the 100 mile wilderness in the foothills of Borestone Mountain and just above Big Wilson Stream.
